"We are all assisted and assistants at the same time," observes artist Florian Fouché. "Everyone, whether powerful or powerless." Since 2020, his filmed actions have involved a shifting cast of "assistant-assisted actors," among them Philippe Fouché, the artist's father, who uses a wheelchair and lives "in an institution" (a "MAS," a specialized residential care facility for adults with disabilities). The staging of "institutional lives" – those of the museum and the hospital, among others – is guided by a choreographic and sculptural search for a "shared ground." In 2024, Florian Fouché began an artistic counter-history of public care: UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE PRELUDE [SÉCURITÉ SOCIALE PRÉLUDE].

Florian Fouché lives and works in Paris and teaches at the Beaux-Arts de Lyon. Past and current projects: The Antidote Museum (2010–2014); Assisted Manifesto (2020–2023); UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE PRELUDE (2024–2026). His work has been shown at numerous institutions, including the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), the Beaux-Arts de Paris (Palais des Études, Ensba), CAC Passerelle (Brest), Carré d'Art (Nîmes), the Musée Unterlinden (Colmar), CIAP Vassivière and the Église Saint-Pierre (Tulle), FRAC Limousin, SKC (Belgrade), Eustache Kossakowski's studio at Anka Ptaszkowska's (Paris), 10-rue-Saint-Luc, the studio of L'Arachnéen publishing house (Paris), Bétonsalon (Paris), MoMA Virtual Cinema (New York), Centre Pompidou-Metz, CAPC musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Mucem (Marseille), CRAC Occitanie (Sète), Parliament gallery (Paris), Liste Art Fair (Basel), GwinZegal art centre (Guingamp), Xippas gallery (Geneva), the Musée transitoire (Paris), CEAAC (Strasbourg) and Aubette 1928 (Strasbourg). In 2026, he made two films commissioned by the Centre Pompidou, Assisted Death [Mort assistée] and Administrative Phobia [Phobie administrative], and is taking part in the Lyon Biennale. He is represented by Parliament gallery.
